Christmas Crafts Ideas

stockingLove Inspired authors Margaret Daley, Linda Ford, Allison Stone and Deb Kastner share craft ideas for special gifts and fun activities this holiday season!

Margaret Daley (Love Inspired Suspense)

I was a teacher of children with special needs for many years, and every Christmas we did a project they would give to their parents as a gift. I often worked with my students teaching them life skills like how to mend clothes if they needed to. One of my goals as a teacher was to prepare them for adulthood and taking care of themselves. One of the fun ways to teach them was through Christmas projects such as sewing Christmas stockings. We used felt material as the base of the stocking, and then sewed on various sequins and decorations. These gifts were always a big hit with their parents.

Linda Ford (Love Inspired Historical)

ford craft 1I used to make a lot of gifts though not so much anymore. One year I made gifts for four little girls. For the three youngest I knitted doll blankets. For the ten-year-old, I made slippers. She was thrilled that Grandma had made her a gift.

Here are pictures of the blankets and slippers.

This pattern is free, but we would really love it if you would visit Merrill’s Fund, our site about service dogs for autistic children, and consider donating just one dollar.
